MULTI-FAMILY SNOW PROCEDURES
• The start of plowing operations will vary depending on when the snow stops and the extent of the storm.
• Your local municipality and not your snow contractor may plow the streets in your association. The streets and driveways may be plowed at different times, resulting in snow build-up at the street end of the driveway. This area will be cleared of snow the following day during routine snow cleanup.
• Crews begin plowing at designated starting points.
• We make a 1st pass plowing drives with no cars in them. This is for safety reasons as well as servicing as many people as quickly as possible. A 2nd pass is made immediately following the first pass, staying a safe distance away from cars; again, this is for safety and liability to minimize damage. A final pass is made before crews leave the property.
• A parked car in or adjacent to your driveway may make it difficult for drivers’ to plow adjacent driveways. Please be considerate of your neighbor and move parked cars when you see or hear the plowing truck. Sidewalk crews may be separate from the plowing crew, arriving at the site later.
• During blizzard conditions priority is given to ingress and egress of driveways. Sidewalks are low priority and will be cleared the following day.
• Snow will be pushed back far enough off driveways or walks to make room for future snow. We try not to damage decorative lights at entrance walks and on plant material; however sometimes damage is unavoidable. We are not responsible for damage or loss to decorative lighting and/or decorations.
• Sweep deicing chemicals off of carpets and if necessary clean with a commercial steam cleaner.
• The majority of our staff is made up of full time people who have been on the site throughout the summer months and are very familiar with the property. Even so, your property may look entirely different to us in the dark and occasionally we will miss clearing areas that are apparent during the day.
• In the event the wind chill factor is 20 degrees below zero or greater, ground crews will not be on property for safety reasons. Groundwork will resume when wind chill temperatures are at a safe degree for outdoor work. Under extreme weather conditions workers are encouraged to sit in trucks for short periods of time to warm themselves.
• Drivers are encouraged to take breaks and may be seen leaving the property during plowing operations.
• Crews are instructed not to take direction from homeowners.
• For safety reasons please stay away from plow trucks and uni-loaders during plowing operations.
• Only snows of 2 inches and above are plowed, unless specified otherwise in contract.
• Report problems with the plowing service to your property manager.
